Half of the top 100 private cloud companies (Forbes Cloud 100) have had layoffs in the past year.

The Forbes Cloud 100 is an annual ranking of the top private cloud / SaaS companies in the world.  

How have these top tech startups fared in the current wave of layoffs?

According to our analysis using data from WARN records and @Layoffs.fyi:

- 48 of the 2022 Cloud 100 companies have had layoffs since the beginning of 2022

- 52 have not. 

Among the most notable companies that have not done layoffs as of the time of writing:

• Databricks, with 4000+ employees, ranked #2 on the Cloud 100 list

• Canva, with 3000+ employees, ranked #3  on the Cloud 100 list

• Figma, with 750+ employees, ranked #5 on the Cloud 100 list

Geography

Another interesting slice of this data: how are companies across different metro areas affected by layoffs?

• 48% (22 out of 46) Bay Area companies have had layoffs

• 38% (5 out of 13) New York companies have had layoffs

• 100% (4 out of 4) Seattle companies have had layoffs

• 20% (1 out of 5) Remote companies have had layoffs
